Farm Steward Program

Grow Food. Learn Farming. Become Part of Our Community.

At Oceanside Organics Farm, we believe the best way to learn regenerative agriculture is by getting your hands in the soil.

Our Farm Steward Program gives you your own irrigated garden bed while allowing you to learn alongside experienced growers on a working regenerative farm.

Whether you're dreaming of growing more of your own food, starting a homestead, or simply spending more time outdoors, we'd love to welcome you.

To apply: email your resume to kelretsch@gmail.com and text (815) 451-8332 with your name and email to schedule your interview.

Your three hours at oceanside organics

Create a schedule that works for you! Together with our Farm Manager, you'll choose a consistent weekly time to contribute about three hours of service.

In exchange, you'll receive your own 150-square-foot garden bed in our organic vegetable field. We'll provide the irrigation and support—you'll provide the care, and enjoy the harvest.

What You'll Help With:

  • Harvesting vegetables

  • Washing and packing produce

  • Applying organic fertilizers

  • Weeding production beds

  • Seeding and transplanting

  • Compost and mulch applications

your garden bed

150 square feet of organic growing space

  • Irrigation is taken care of by the Farm Manager

  • Cultivate and harvest from your bed before or after your service hours

To help protect the health of our farm, all Farm Steward garden beds must be maintained using our organic growing practices.

your commitment

To help the program run smoothly, we ask Farm Stewards to commit to:

  • Approximately 3 hours of volunteer service each week

  • A three-month seasonal commitment

  • Reliable communication and attendance

We intentionally keep the program small to ensure everyone receives personalized instruction and support.
